Menthyl Acetate
Menthyl acetate is a monoterpene that can be found in the menthapiperita. This contributes to the fragrance and flavour of the menthapiperita oil and peppermint. 3-amino-2-hydroxyalkanoates can be prepared using menthyl acetate through lithium amide-supported Mannich-type reaction of lithium enolate with PMP-arylaldimines, followed by in situ oxidation with oxaziridine. It is supplied in polybottle packs.
